CPSHE

At Mitton Manor, citizenship, personal, social, health and economic (CPSHE) education is an embedded part of our broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development is at the heart of our school ethos. British Values are promoted through the overarching aims and objectives of CPSHE by supporting our children to become healthy and responsible members of society, as well as preparing them for life and work in modern Britain.

Our CPSHE curriculum is accessible to all and will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. At Mitton Manor, CPSHE education enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

CPSHE Highlights

Last year at Mitton Manor, we made significant strides in enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of our school community. We diligently worked towards achieving our Mental Health Champions award, which involved numerous interventions throughout the year to demonstrate our commitment to supporting mental health for all.

We continued to implement the MyHappyMind programme, equipping our children with essential knowledge and skills to nurture their mental health. Additionally, we introduced the MyHappyMind parent app, which serves as a valuable resource for parents seeking to support their children's mental health at home. To foster this engagement further, we successfully ran a parent workshop, allowing for meaningful discussions and strategies to be shared.

Throughout the year, we celebrated special days such as World Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying Week, and Neurodiversity Day, highlighting the importance of these topics within our community. We were fortunate to be visited by SCARF, who conducted Life Education sessions in class, enhancing our students' understanding of various essential life skills.

Moreover, we collaborated closely with Young Mind Matters, who provided vital support for some of our children and facilitated sessions for our Year 6 class, addressing exam stress and aiding their transition to secondary school. These initiatives reflect our unwavering dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for every student at Mitton Manor.
