Devon Trip 2014
Welcome to the page for the 2014 Devon trip. Mr Fletcher will be updating the page each day while the children are away to keep you up to date with the events.
Day 1 - Tuesday 25th March
At 10.10am this morning the parents of the children in years 4 and 5 were outside the school gates to wave off their children. Many parents had tears in their eyes as the coaches pulled away. The children all looked happy and were excited to be going.
Arrived safe and sound this afternoon. We had a tour of the farm and met all of the animals. We completed our first set of farm jobs - luckily we managed to retrieve an escapee rabbit! Had a massive meal this evening - most of the children had seconds or thirds! We are all looking forward to visiting Plymouth Aquarium tomorrow after a good night's sleep.
Day 2 - Wednesday 26th March
We all woke up this morning and enjoyed a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon. We completed our farm jobs and fortunately Farmer Hatton managed to round up the pigs that Mr Hutchison let out of the gate! Everyone had a fantastic day at Plymouth Aquarium - we all learnt so much. A massive meal this evening was followed by a display of falconry in the barn. We are all having a brilliant time and can't wait for Morwellham Quay in the morning. P.S. Did you know that there is a jellyfish that is 35m long?
Day 3 - Thursday 27th March
We had a great day at Morewellham Quay today. The children learnt how to make their own rope by hand and by machine. They dressed up in Victorian clothing and went down a copper mine. Everyone enjoyed the trip and we managed to dodge the showers. Following this, we went swimming at Tavistock Leisure Centre where we lost many pairs of socks - parents we apologise in advance! A big meal this evening was followed by a campfire with toasted marshmallows and a range of talent shared by the children. We have all had a wonderful time but we are looking forward to coming home tomorrow - after our pancakes in the morning!
