Welcome to Early Years
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum covers seven areas of learning and development. This includes three Prime Areas and four Specific Areas.
The Prime Areas are fundamental, work together, and move through to support development in all other areas of learning. The three Prime Areas of learning and development include:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
The Specific Areas include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society. The four Specific Areas of learning and development include
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
The EYFS curriculum is delivered to our children through a mix of adult directed activities and child initiated and child led activities. Every child is unique and their individual needs, ideas, interests and learning styles play a core role in the planning for our weekly and daily tasks and activities
PLAY! The value placed on play in the early years is very high. Children learn best when they are having fun; through carefully thought out and structured play activities. All members of staff in Early Years class are highly skilled in moving the play forward and supporting children’s learning.
This term, we are planning on bringing the magic of the circus to our classroom! We will be looking at lots of important topics such as: animals and animal welfare, magic, acrobats, performing, imaginative stories, and lots more. This term, we will also be rehearsing for an incredible show - our class assembly!
