P.E will be on a Wednesday and P.E kit should be in school every day, including tracksuit and trainers for outdoor games in winter.
This term we are focusing on Natural Disasters. We have been fascinated so far by looking at different disasters that happen naturally such as volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, avalanches and forest fires.
We will be looking at natural disasters from many different aspects. Science will focus on the life cycles of plants and animals and how their habitats can be effected by natural disasters. Through DT we will be inspired by paper mache volcanoes in true American fashion! During Literacy, we will be focusing on motivational speeches, discussion texts about recycling and writing non chronological reports about a famous natural disaster. We will also be looking at the history of natural disasters and how they have effected people around the world. PE will include a unit on gymnastics and we will be continuing our knowledge of hockey to build up to a proper game. There will be many other opportunities for the children, through other areas of the curriculum, to fulfill their knowledge of natural disasters too. We will also be going on our residential trip to Devon in March – how exciting!
